| Readifoods invested nearly £2m in a new
factory (in 1999) specifically to house
both our new state of the art Nut
Cleaning line and a Roasting and
Salting
Plant. These two investments mean that
we are fully self-sufficient.
Readifoods started packing dried fruit
and nuts in 1985. In those days, we
were a small section within the JLP
Food
Group, based near Sleaford in
Lincolnshire. From small beginnings we
have grown to become one of the major
suppliers to the UK grocery
supermarkets. We have also developed
strong relationships with a number of
Airlines, private Retailers and
Wholesalers. This means that we have
had to develop first class facilities
in:-
International sourcing of Nuts and
Dried Fruits
Laboratory facilities to monitor
and
control incoming ingredients
Cleaning (laser scanning) and
blending of Nuts and Dried Fruit
Roasting and Salting of many nut
products
The latest packing machinery
technology
In 1997 we were awarded EFSIS
Accreditation which we have held ever
since. We moved to the highest
level in 2000. This gives our
customers
the knowledge that Readifoods has
exceptional systems in place to monitor
the quality and traceability of the
ingredients and the production
processes
thereby reducing the need for factory
audits.
In the late 1990's we out-grew our
factory and early in 2000 moved into
new
28,000 sq.
ft. premises. This factory is sited on
land owned by the
Group. At that time, we also invested
over £300,000 in the very latest nut
cleaning facilities which include
double
laser scanning, de-stoning and air
separation. We searched all over
Europe
to find the right equipment and
installed the scanner made by BEST of
Belgium
The business has continued to grow and
in 2003 we installed two Stabilo
packing
machines made by BOSCH in Germany.
These are high speed packing machines
which enable us to offer our customers
the 4-corner seal bags which have
become
prevalent in many areas of the grocery
industry such as, cereals, coffee
etc.
Readifoods can now offer our customers
a
very wide range of packaging styles
such
as standard pillow pack, 4-corner seal
bags, resealability, PET jars etc.
